Tips for Growing
Microgreens are a great addition to any home garden. Here are some tips to help you grow your own microgreens:
Growing Highlights:
Fast Growth Cycle:
Most microgreens are ready to harvest in 7–14 days.
Nutrient Powerhouses:
Packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Low Space Requirements: Perfect for small-scale indoor or outdoor setups. Minimal Equipment Needed: Grow trays, soil (or soilless medium), seeds, and a light source are sufficient.
Versatile Uses:
Add to salads, sandwiches, smoothies, or as a garnish.
Growing Tips:
Seed Selection: Use untreated, non-GMO seeds for optimal results. Popular varieties include sunflower, radish, broccoli, and peas.
Soaking Seeds: Some seeds (like sunflower and peas) germinate better after soaking for 6–12 hours.
Even Soil Layer: Spread soil evenly and lightly press it down before seeding.
Uniform Seeding: Distribute seeds evenly to prevent overcrowding and promote airflow.
Watering: Use a spray bottle for gentle watering to avoid disturbing the seeds or soil.
Light Source: Provide bright, indirect sunlight or use LED grow lights for 12–16 hours per day.
Humidity Control: Cover trays with a humidity dome or plastic wrap for the first 2–3 days to aid germination.
Airflow: Ensure good ventilation to prevent mold growth.
Harvesting: Use scissors to snip microgreens just above the soil line when they’re 1–3 inches tall.
